Although many take access to clean water for granted, three churchgoers felt called to help provide clean drinking and living water to millions around the world. Before starting their effort to serve remote communities, they heard a sermon by Dr. David Platt in 2006 called “The Ultimate Disconnect,” based on Psalm 67:1-2. “May God be gracious to us, bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, so your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.” Dr. Platt ended his sermon by asking his audience “have you disconnected God’s blessing with God’s purpose?”

Reflecting on both the sermon and the final question led them to travel overseas for various mission trips where they saw poverty unlike they had ever witnessed before. After spending 2007 in prayer to seek what God was calling them to do, they embarked on another mission trip to South Sudan in 2008. Little did they know this trip would change their lives and inspire them to help others.

After discovering how scarce clean water was in South Sudan, they came home in April of 2008 determined to do something about what they saw in order to help those who needed it. By December they had raised $10,000 and installed their first well on December 8th in the village they had visited back in April, and Neverthirst was born.

Since that April 12 years ago, Neverthirst has partnered with churches, businesses, families, gyms and others to bring access to clean and living water to over 707,000 people. In a world of 7 billion people, over 663 million are living without access to clean, safe drinking water. They work in 8 countries: India, Nepal, Cambodia, Myanmar, Chad, Uganda, South Sudan, and (most recently) the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Carvemark and Neverthirst recently joined forces in hopes to collaborate in the future to bring a clean drinking water well to communities in India. The World Bank estimates that 21% of communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water, making the wells essential for those who will be able to benefit from them.

By helping Neverthirst provide sustainable water resources for those in need, Carvemark has been given an incredible opportunity to contribute to something bigger than themselves and aid the global community.
